Types of Academic Leave of Absence

Category Content Available period
General Academic Leave of Absence
  • Academic Leave of Absence due to academics, language training, awaiting military enlistment, personal reasons, illness, internship, starting a business, etc.
  • You can apply for up to one year on a Academic Year・Semester basis (1 Academic Year・Semester or 2 Academic Year・Semester)
  • A Academic Leave of Absence of absence is not permitted for a cumulative period exceeding two years during the Attendance Period.

However, additional Academic Leave of Absence may be permitted in cases of military enlistment, pregnancy, childbirth, or childcare (within 2 years), starting a business (4 years plus Academic Year・Semester approved by the President ), or illness.

military Academic Leave of Absence
  • Students enlisting in the military must apply for a military Academic Leave of Absence (applications can be made after the enlistment notice is issued).
  • Expulsion if enlisting without submitting a military leave of absence application or enlistment notice.
  • If a Students on military Academic Leave of Absence is sent home, they must immediately Academic Return(attach a certificate of return) or change their status to a general Academic Leave of Absence .
Those ineligible to apply for a Academic Leave of Absence
  • New students, transfer students, re-admitted students, etc. are not permitted to Academic Leave of Absence during the first Academic Year・Semester of Admissions.
    (Excluding reasons such as illness, military enlistment, pregnancy, and childbirth)

  • Jan., Jul. ( Refer to Academic Calendar )
  • Students who wish to take a general Academic Leave of Absence during the Academic Year・Semester due to unavoidable circumstances must apply for the Academic Leave of Absence at least halfway through the semester.
    • You can apply for a military Academic Leave of Absence even after the halfway point.

Academic Leave of Absence due to illness Application for leave of absence, medical certificate from a national or public general hospital or specialist (diagnosis of 4 weeks or more, must be issued within 7 days of the Academic Leave of Absence date),
The university may request additional documents, such as a confirmation of hospitalization (if applicable) and treatment records.
Academic Leave of Absence for pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare Supporting documents such as leave of absence application, pregnancy confirmation, birth confirmation, study plan, etc.
Academic Leave of Absence for starting a business Application for leave of absence, business plan and medical opinion, business registration certificate, copy of occupancy application and contract, etc.

Important Notes

Return borrowed books Students planning to take a Academic Leave of Absence must return all borrowed books before applying for the Academic Leave of Absence .
scholarship Scholarship recipients must confirm the refund amount with the Students Team scholarship officer ( 052-217-1135 ) and return it before applying for a Academic Leave of Absence .
Tuition Tuition fees must be paid during the designated period ( refer to the Academic Calendar ).
Resolution of grounds for deferment of reserve force mobilization or Academics Must report to the Affiliation reserve battalion commander within 14 days from the date of resolution.
(Failure to report within 14 days is subject to punishment of a fine, detention, or penalty pursuant to Article 15, Paragraph 12 of the Local Reserve Forces Establishment Act.)

Academic Return

  • Only for students returning to school after military Academic Return, an application for Academic Return may be permitted if the date of discharge is within one-quarter of the total class days.
    • However, regarding class attendance, the individual must confirm
