AP(Advanced Placement)

definition
  • A system that provides high school students with the opportunity to study college-level subjects and recognizes the results as college credits after Admissions .
  • Five science and technology universities (KAIST, GIST, DGIST, UNIST, and POSTECH) signed an MOU to expand exchanges and promote cooperation, developed a joint AP Academic Curriculum, and introduced and operated it at gifted schools and science high schools (8 gifted schools and 20 science high schools).

Application period
  • Early to mid- Feb.
Application Procedure
  • Submit original high school Grade and AP credit recognition application to the School of New UNISTars.
Credit Transfer Procedures and Restrictions
  • After submitting original documents to the School of New UNISTars and requesting Grade recognition from the Academic Affairs Team, AP Grade will be recognized along with the Grade for that Academic Year・Semester after the end of the first Academic Year・Semester .
    • However, GPA is not reflected

Domestic credit exchange

definition
  • A system for Students to study abroad with other domestic universities in accordance with an academic exchange agreement with Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology.

    • KAIST, POSTECH, GIST, DGIST (Science and Technology Universities)
    • Seoul National University, Yonsei University, Korea University, The University of Seoul, Chonnam National University, Jeonbuk National University, Kyungpook National University, Handong University, Pusan ​​National University, Pukyong National University, Korea Maritime University

Eligibility
  • Academic Year・Semester requires being a currently enrolled student in Academic Year・Semester 3rd to 8th Academic Year・Semester (or 8th Academic Year・Semester or lower for summer Academic Year・Semester ); Academic Year・Semester in the summer semester immediately preceding graduation are not eligible for dispatch.
  • Students with a cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher up to the previous Academic Year・Semester(however, cumulative GPA is excluded for the first-year summer Academic Year・Semester)
  • Persons who have never received a grade of C or lower in two or more subjects from previous credit exchange Grade at other domestic universities.
  • Students who have not received disciplinary action or an academic warning in the previous Academic Year・Semester
Application period
  • Regular Academic Year・Semester: 2–3 months before the start of each Academic Year・Semester
  • Summer Academic Year・Semester: 1 month before the start of the semester
    • For detailed dates, please refer to the portal posts from that period.

Note
  • Up to 12 credits earned at the College of Mathematics are recognized during enrollment.
    • However, Credit Transfer through exchanges between science and technology specialized universities is an exception.

Credit Transfer

definition
  • Recognition of credits earned while enrolled in the same program at another university for students who Admissions this university after Expulsion from the Undergraduate Admissions at another university.
Eligibility
  • Students in 2nd grade or higher
Limitations and Scope of Recognition
  • Only courses with a previously earned grade of C0 (2.0) or higher are eligible for recognition.
  • Limited to within 1/1 of the total Undergraduate Admissions graduation credits.

  • For courses approved for Credit Carryover , the credits and Grade earned in each program at UNIST are recognized and indicated as is (excluded when calculating the GPA for each program).
